In search of the lost tribes of Israel

 Ten lost tribes are those ten of twelve ancient tribes of Israel which disappeared after the kingdom of Israel was destroyed by Assyria more than two and a half thousand years ago and until today nothing is known about their destiny. In traditional belief of the Jews the lost tribes continued their existence. Moreover, the return of the missing tribes and reunification with their brothers is of special significance. 

     Throughout the ages many writers and scholars has made an attempt to uncover the mystery of the lost tribes and represent their vision in their own works. The most famous legend explaining this phenomenon is the legend about the stormy river Sambation which is impossible to cross for the ten tribes living on the other side of it and only Messiah can help them come back.

Juris Cibuls (Latgalian: Jurs Cybuļs) is a Latvian publicist, humanist, linguist and translator who has been our customer for a long time. Mr. Cibuls is collecting primers in different languages, so currently there are about 8,400 ABC-books in his collection. They are from 216 countries and in 1,039 languages. The collection has been exhibited 170 times in museums, libraries, schools and clubs.

Left-wing radicalism in Latin America

“Alliance for progress” is a programme announced by the US President John Kennedy on the 13^th of March 1961aimed at helping Latin America. It was officially adopted on the 17^th of August 1961 during the Inter-American Economic Conference in the Uruguayan town Punta del Este. It was the largest socio-economic programme in the Western Hemisphere in contemporary history. 19 countries of Latin America (except Cuba) took part at it. For realization of this programme the USA promissed to allocate 20 billion dollars (10 billion out of it –in the form of state credits, and the rest 10 billion – by means of private capital). Latin America pledged to allocate 80 billion dollars from private finance.

The result of the programme was a failure. The consequences of this failure are current situation of relationship between the USA and Latin America.  The problem of poverty, unsolved land problem, absence of the middle class, and a great influence of left-wing radical movements – are those things Latin America suffered from in the 50-s of the XX^th centuary. 

Lyubavichi. History, mysteries and true facts

The book is devoted to the history of Lyubavichi village, one of the most ancient places of Smolensk Oblast. A special attention is paid to the Jewish religious movement called Hasidic Judaism occurred on the territory of the village.
